New Anti War Party takes London seat in UK general election

In London the new anti war party Respect, wins in
Bethnal Green and Bow, comes second in the two
neighbouring constituencies and in Birmingham
Sparkbrook, and third in London's Poplar and Canning
town constituency.
In Blair's own constituency, Reg Keys, father of a
soldier killed in Iraq last year, takes over 10\% of
the vote.

You guys don't know Respect very well, do you?

They're the Trot-Fundie coalition, the worst excesses of red and green in an unlikely marriage of convenience.

Here's a picture of an anti war banner from the East End a while ago:

Well Rob
<You guys don't know Respect very well, do you? > -I
know them pretty well - I'm a member since they
started & I've never made a secret that I'm a "Trot".
( ie consistent anti war activist, consistent trades
unionist, consistent anti racist, consistent opposer of
privatisation)
But I'm glad to see you've got your priorites in order
- something enormously positive & hopeful (and, I
think, of real historic significance, but we'll see)
occurs and you indulge in a little sectarian red
baiting - nice one!
As for the "fundamentalist" smear -well actually the
fundamentalists had a good try at physically
intimidating Galloway & Respect supporters & in fact
told Muslims they'd go straight to hell if they *did*
vote Respect.
Good job Galloway's constituents put class and
principle *before* this advice.
Its a pity that in other areas the only way of
registering a protest was to vote for the Lib Dems,
who opposed the war until it started, then opposed it
again when they discovered that the issue wasn't going
away and could win them some votes.
