Join us for a special event in Rockaway, NY on Saturday, September 8 to support Rhizome’s collaboration with the artist-led education program Arts in Parts.

From 4-6pm, visit an exhibition of work from the recent SEA LEVEL summer day camp at Marina 59. Inspired by Rhizome’s Seven on Seven program, SEA LEVEL focused on art, technology, and the environment through a series of artist-led workshops and projects, including making a website and videos with Lauren Boyle and Marco Roso of DIS, and building models of the internet artist Ingrid Burrington, alongside explorations of found materials, nature, and traditional media.

Assemblage, painting, video, and a website made by Rockaway youth ages 5 and up will be on view in the Sea Level exhibition, which will be the first-ever event in the Arts in Parts “Campus-in-a-Container,” purchased thanks to the generous support of our Kickstarter backers.

Dinner will follow from 6-9, with home cooking by Arts in Parts on a verdant Rockaway farm. All proceeds will go to Arts in Parts’ continued community arts programming in Rockaway. Purchase dinner tickets here.

Arts in Parts was founded by Cecilia de Corral, Heather Kramer, Chris Martin, Diwa Tamrong and many others in November 2012, to give young people in Rockaway a more positive relationship with their environment in the aftermath of Sandy. The Arts in Parts program focuses on nature-based, artist-led education, and includes after school programs, weekend workshops, and summer day camps.

SEA LEVEL was made possible by Deutsche Bank’s support for the Seven on Seven outreach program.
