The Art Department invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2008. The terminal degree is required. The Art Department is an energetic program in the public liberal arts university for the state of Georgia. The department seeks a dynamic teacher and promising scholar who can effectively teach a range of courses in the field of Art and Technology. The applicant should have the ability to teach introductory digital classes, beginning to advanced Web design, digital printing, animation, video and sound art. Also must have the ability to guide students working on community projects and to teach some courses in art foundations. Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Macromedia Suite, Final Cut, etc. A broad understanding of contemporary critical history, theory and criticism of digital technologies and inter-media arts and ability to articulate concepts in a broad studio context is necessary. We seek additional strengths in the theory, practice, and history of visual communication, issues of community, issues of gender, identity politics, media literacy and demonstrable examples of other experiences such as performance, installation, etc. Excellence in teaching, research, and service is required for promotion and tenure.
