Starting in February 2012, the VUW School of Design will introduce a new Masters qualification in Computer Graphics in collaboration with the VUW Computer Science Masters programme. This new initiative is sponsored by the New Zealand Governments Ministry of Science and Innovation, and by highly regarded local industry partners who specialise in computer graphics. This cross disciplinary collaboration, combined with the emerging capability in the regions internationally acknowledged digital creative sector, make Wellington and Victoria University a unique location to contribute to this exciting new development discipline.

Applicants should be both experienced and knowledgeable in cutting edge art/design teaching, research and practice. Areas of expertise should include a creative approach to any number of the following production methods: generative/procedural graphics, animation, generative/procedural 3D, interactive graphics, parameterized design, computer graphics for augmented reality experiences, stereoscopic/3D film production, computer graphics for game design, and/or computer graphics for film/video production. Applicants should also possess a strong working knowledge of related studio practice and all relevant software.

Candidates given preference for the position will hold a Masters or PhD degree (or equivalent) in Media Art/Design with a deep understanding of various programming approaches, or in Computer Science with a deep understanding of Media Art/Design, and who have recognised high quality research achievements and creative outputs in these fields.
