Visiting Assistant Professor in Art: New Media
The Department of Art and Art History at Oakland University is accepting applications for a one year appointment (with the possibility of renewal, pending funding) for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art: New Media, beginning August 15, 2011. Teaching duties include foundations of media art, intermediate video art, and advanced new media and photography courses. These disciplines are approached from a fine arts perspective.
Candidates must hold an MFA in New Media or related field, have teaching experience at the undergraduate level, and have established an exhibition record. Candidates should be fluent in historical and conceptual frameworks for New Media practices, and possess a strong understanding of contemporary art and visual culture.
The Department of Art and Art History offers undergraduate majors in art history, studio art and studio art with a K-12 art education certification. The department includes the Oakland University Art Gallery, a rich venue for changing exhibitions of regional and international contemporary artists, historical art from critical perspectives, and student thesis shows.
