Department of Art Assistant / Associate Professor in Digital Design Position starting on August 1, 2011
Appointment Description

Dynamic program is seeking an exceptional digital fine artist to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs. Individuals must be broadly educated in contemporary approaches to art and design and engaged in the ongoing theoretical and critical issues of visual art. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching, curriculum development, and a professional studio practiceTeaching responsibilities include a 3:3 course load consisting of Design II, Introduction to Web Design, and Interactive Web Design along with other courses related to the candidate’s personal practice and research. The Art Department’s digital studio is state-of-the-art and staffed with a full-time technician, and graduate and undergraduate student assistants. At least two years of teaching experience or equivalent preferred.MFA required along with a broad and substantial knowledge of digital media.

The Art Department, with 28 full-time faculty and 4 staff members, offers BFA and BA degrees in studio art, art history/museum studies, and art education.The department currently directs 555 undergraduate art majors and offers a two-year MFA degree in studio art with 15 - 20 enrolled students. The program benefits from a committed and dynamic professional faculty, a new state of the art studio facility, and a close working relationship with the Weatherspoon Art Museum, known nationally and internationally for its collections of modern and contemporary art and for its exhibition programs. UNC Greensboro, one of sixteen campuses in the University of North Carolina system, is a doctorate-granting university with approximately 18,000 students. Greensboro is a medium-sized city of about 250,000 located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina near the Research Triangle and other major educational institutions, a location providing easy access to recreational opportunities at the coast and the mountains.
