Assistant Professor of Visual Communication

The School of Art & Art History at the University of Oklahoma seeks a tenure-track (9 month appointment) faculty member at the Assistant Professor level, to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in interaction/digital web-based design in an adaptive and dynamic Visual Communication program within a research institution. Candidates must be highly motivated individuals with an interest in ongoing curriculum development. The candidate must demonstrate a high level of Graphic Design competence with a strong interest in Motion Graphics, Multimedia and Web Design. The Visual Communication program emphasizes a conceptual yet practical approach to Graphic Design problem solving. The responsibilities of the position include ongoing research and professional accomplishment in the field of study consistent with a research institution, undergraduate advising, and performing service duties appropriate for the department, college and university.


Requirements:
•MFA (or equivalent terminal design degree) in Graphic Design/Visual Communication
•Candidate needs to have a minimum of three years of professional experience in both of the following areas: internet & web (with a strong typography base) and motion graphics as they relate to the graphic design profession.


Preferred Qualifications:
•Three years of university/college teaching experience in Visual Communication education
•Ideal candidate would have a significant record as a graphic designer for the web as well as exhibiting dynamic conceptual and theoretical abilities to teach both undergraduate and graduate students.
•Competency teaching multimedia, web design, motion graphics as well as courses in typography.
•Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate and work with a diverse faculty
