Full-time tenure-track Position in Open MediaBrandeis University, Department of Fine Arts
The Department of Fine Arts, Brandeis University, invites applications for a tenure-track Open Media position. This is a full-time appointment starting at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek a captivating studio artist with strong commitments to creative practice; teaching and mentorship; and inclusive pedagogies. This 'Open Media' position welcomes artists with a variety of practices; preference will be given to applicants with interdisciplinary and blended practices, and with the ability to teach in two or more disciplines of their choosing.
Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of contemporary art and art history; be comfortable working with students at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels; and be able to teach formal and conceptual skills within a liberal arts university setting. The position requires an MFA or similar terminal degree in their field of study, and an active exhibition record. A minimum of 3 years of college teaching experience beyond the level of teaching assistantships is required. We welcome applications from individuals who may have followed non-traditional pathways to higher education, as well as those from under represented identities.
The Fine Arts Department is searching for a colleague who will participate fully in both the department and university community. Tenure-track assistant professors are eligible to receive annual research funds to support continued artistic and professional development.
Brandeis University is a medium-sized private research university located in the metropolitan Boston area. The faculty of the Department of Fine Arts is composed both of artists and art historians. A notable visiting artists program and the Rose Art Museum are on-campus resources, which augment the studio curriculum.
