Tenured Professor in Filmmaking

The Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University invites applications for a tenured professorship in filmmaking. Filmmakers whose work has made original contributions to fiction filmmaking, or whose work traverses fiction, non-fiction, and experimental film and video, are encouraged to apply. Applications from filmmakers who identity as people of color or as members of historically excluded communities or under-represented minorities are especially encouraged.

The appointment is expected to begin on either July 1, 2024, or July 1, 2025, and the tenured professor will be responsible for teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and desire to join and thrive in an inter-disciplinary and inter-media community of filmmakers, artists and scholars.

Candidates should have a record of outstanding accomplishment in the field, as demonstrated by screenings, exhibitions, and projects in venues relevant to the candidate’s practice. An MFA or equivalent degree and teaching experience at the college or university level is required
