POSITION IN DIGITAL MEDIA ARTS
The University of Houston School of Art invites applicants for an Assistant Professor tenure track position for a digital media artist. We seek an innovative artist whose work dynamically incorporates interactive and/or time based mediums and crosses disciplines.
Areas of research should demonstrate a focus on one or more of the following: interactive media, immersive installations, scripting/programming and web design. Time based mediums may include video art, multi-screen projection, motion graphics, 3D modeling and animation. An extensive understanding of contemporary theory in visual art, digital media, and design and the ability to articulate concepts in a broad studio context is expected of the candidate.
The successful candidate should be prepared to take a leadership role in strategic planning and implementation of labs, as well as teaching and mentoring art and design undergraduate and graduate students working across disciplines. Candidates will also participate in course development and be encouraged to create courses in their area of expertise.
A strong record of professional activity and a demonstrated commitment to creative practice required. An MFA (or equivalent) and two years teaching experience beyond the graduate school level preferred.
