Professorship for Media Arts, W 3

We are looking for a distinguished artist with an independent oeuvre of international renown for a term of 6 years. The prerequisites are certifiable theoretical and practical qualifications as well as extensive familiarity with the contemporary art scene and current media discourse.

The artistic profile should be strong across many different media. In particular, this position focuses on artists who have studied and worked with the latest digital media and "image spaces" or who have experimented with sound installations in spaces. Knowledge of programming, sensors, compositing and digital workflows is desirable.

Furthermore, the candidate is expected to have experience as an instructor and be prepared to engage in interdisciplinary and project-oriented work as well as to actively participate in the organisation of studies, to perform university administration tasks and to help develop and execute artistic and experimental research projects.

Tasks:

- Instruction and supervision of students in the Media Arts program.
-In addition to instruction, candidates are expected to collaborate on national and international interdisciplinary projects in research and development together with other department heads and guest professors.
-All other official tasks are stipulated in paragraph 46 of the LHG (state law on universities and colleges).
-Participation in the academic committees is required.

-Suitability for work as an instructor

The appointment shall be made as a limited duration, non-tariff civil service position for a period of up to six years.
