Assistant Professor/Instructor of Communication Arts: Writing for Screens/Media

Marymount Manhattan College, an urban, independent, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 undergraduates, located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, invites applications for a tenure track faculty position beginning Fall 2009, pending budget approval.

Assistant Professor/Instructor of Communication Arts: Writing for Screens/Media

Description: Teaching courses in: screenplay writing (narrative and documentary in short, long and feature-length), writing for television (various genres and forms including webisodes) and non-linear interactive media. Candidates should also be able to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: online/web journalism, cinema studies, screen studies, media criticism.

Requirements: Applicants should hold a PhD or MFA in Communication, Cinema Studies, Screen Studies or related field by the start date (advanced ABD may be considered). Applicants must demonstrate teaching excellence, a commitment to the liberal arts, an active research agenda or creative program, industry experience and commitment to service. College teaching experience required.
