The Department of Communication at Monmouth University seeks an Assistant Professor in Digital Media. This anticipated opening is for the 2016-2017 academic year and is tenure track.

Primary emphasis in emerging/digital media technologies and screen studies. The person in this position will teach classes in digital media technologies, screen studies, and other mass media and video production courses as appropriate; develop and oversee new classes appropriate to the department’s goal to have its students be multimedia competent; and contribute to the Screen Studies and Interactive Media minors.

We seek a candidate with skills in several of the following: mobile media; visual design and digital imaging; audio and video production; simple animations; web design, optimization and maintenance; gaming; and multimedia storytelling. The candidate would be expected to contribute to the department’s Master’s Degree in Corporate and Public Communication.

The Department of Communication is a dynamic department that serves 400 undergraduate majors in three concentrations — Radio/Television, Journalism/Public Relations, and Communication Studies — and 40 graduate students in its Master’s program in Corporate and Public Communication. In collaboration with Art & Design, the department offers an exciting minor in Interactive Media, including web, moving image, audio and gaming, along with participatory digital media platforms.

The ideal applicant will provide evidence of successful college teaching experience and a record of scholarly/creative productivity. The candidate will submit a digital portfolio demonstrating their media production experience.
