Canmore man convicted for threats

The down side of net socialization is how it assumes the norms, morals and standards of the physical world.
A place where flame wars erupted would be shut down,…, it would be to uncivilized and then there's the litigation. But even this editor was surprised by the following news story (tru as well)

An Alberta man has been convicted of uttering threats against Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the Internet.
Patrick Fenton of Canmore has been given a 12-month suspended sentence.
The Judge said Fenton admitted he tried to present himself as dangerous, noting he included a photo of himself wearing ski goggles with a knife in his mouth in one blog, and called his postings ``drunken soldier.''
The judge says that while she did not believe Fenton intended to carry out the threats, he wanted readers to believe he would.
