Artists in Industry & the Academy CAA Panel

"Artists in Industry and the Academy: Interdisciplinary Research Collaborations"
Thurs, Feb 19, 8:00-10:30pm
College Art Association Annual Conference
Level 6, WA State Convention Center, meeting Rooms 611 & 612,
Seattle, Washington

This panel will address interdisciplinary research performed by artists involved in industrial and academic collaborations. The core issues include: 1) the varieties and qualities of contributions artists can make in these contexts; 2) the difficulties that arise in such collaborations; and 3) how those difficulties can be overcome to yield a sum that is greater than its parts. The panel hopes to motivate further scholarship about the subject in order to enhance understanding, improve the effectiveness of artist collaborations, and make a stronger case for their support by industry and the academy.
