Digital Asssitant

Stony Brook University’s Art Department seeks to hire a Digital Assistant whose primary duties will be to provide a wide range of hands-on classroom, laboratory and gallery installation assistance to faculty, staff, and students; troubleshoot and maintain departmental computers and labs; oversee and hold printing hours for departmental wide-format printers; update and maintain the department website; collaborate with the Visual Resources Coordinator to establish, maintain, and use a database of digital resources for the department; and handle checkout for AV equipment in a growing and innovative area.

Required: Bachelor’s degree and two years of full-time experience with digital imaging and web technologies. Strong verbal, written, analytic, and technical skills. Technical system administration skills capable of troubleshooting a primarily Macintosh-based environment with some PC’s. Some knowledge of digital still and/or video cameras, data projectors, and/or archival printers. Preferred: Arts background, ability to provide MAC/multimedia support and systems administration, and additional years of related experience. Knowledge of databases and some artistic or design knowledge or experience.
