The Reality Matrix

The Reality Matrix
I'm, writing this in notepad, it seems unobtrusive.
In the web work http://slanderous.org the worlds of the known were replaced by the worlds of the imagined. But the imagined replaced the actual facts of the world (go figure).
Did the imagined reality explode from a real space?
If it did , is it still imagined?
This is tougher than it looks at first glance.
Slanderous.org, now referred to as SO took advantage of current media obsessions and through a mashup carried them into the new media omni-verse. By combining known verbs with new media nouns we managed to bring the focus (the why am I looking) to real persons (Rhizome personalities) who contribute to the discussion of current topics.
SO has been called everything from "brilliant" to "funny" to "the end of net art"(see LaCook response to the slanderous posting I paraphrase ' this is the reason net art is dead' .). Of course he missed the point entirely, but he's not to blame. La Cook wants an unadulterated internet, one without the obvious flaws that introspection of social and personal exposes. But what was http://www.slanderous.org. When Currin paints a picture of a 50's dame made up in post 911 clothing, with wrinkles and feathers we smile. But it's a scam isn't it? I mean why do we smile?
When I see Steve Read pregnant I get a weird thrill. Why does that happen? What's wrong with me?
Are we so enamored with the lives of others, who we all live through in our own vicarious way, that we lose focus on who we are? Or is it just that we enjoy a creative injection of new concepts and possibilities.
Does living in this vicarious way remove out psyche from inspection and eventual criticism or is it a simple playfull response to the impossible?
Is itjust another loss, we call removal, in our way with the world or is it a shared event where we expose our own flaws?
In retrospect now I am at a new node. What does a lie such as " Cory Arcangel gets Arrested" mean when we look at it 10 months later. It caused much consternation at the time. Were realities questioned, were they rebuilt and then deconstructed? Or was it just a great idea with some new roads to navigate and report upon.

Finally, if slanderous.org had been broken down into images and text, and then realized on canvas or cibachrome, would it have been seen as "groundbreaking" and " breathtaking" when shown in a physical gallery such as Garbosian? It would have made them look good.
welll…, all for now.
