POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The College Laboratory Technician (CLT) will report to the Chair or Chair-designee and assist the Senior CLT in EDM by managing digital media installed in EDM, the Digital Output Center, Photo, and Art History, including maintenance of the network and file servers, installation and troubleshooting of hardware and software, management of digital printing services in the Output Center and general organization of equipment, supplies, repairs and scheduling. The CLT will provide support to FT faculty to develop/manage a database of student/alumni contacts and achievements. The CLT will assist lab users and monitor the activities of student lab assistants. The CLT will also assist other studio areas of the Department and the Art Office with technical and other related tasks as needed. Will be required to work evenings and Saturday.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma combined with one of the following sets of minimum additional qualifications: (a) four (4) years of work or experience appropriate to the requirements of the department at a level of competence comparable to that indicated by apprenticeship in the skilled trades; OR (b) an associate degree, preferably in a related area (Electronic Art, Computer Science, Technology) and a minimum of two (2) years of experience of the type described above; OR © a bachelor’s degree in an area appropriate to the duties to be performed; OR (d) an appropriate combination of at least four (4) years of education and work experience beyond high school.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two additional years of experience in a computer lab, or a certificate from an information technology program; prior experience as a computer lab technician is a plus; prior experience with both Mac and PC platform environments, Ethernet network and file servers and demonstrated the ability to diagnose and repair hardware and software problems desirable. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, organizational ability with attention to detail and the ability to develop and implement organizational procedures and policies, excellent writing and oral communication skills and expert use of Excel and FileMaker. Experience in technical aspects of printing/digital output is desired, secondary competencies in photography or video are a plus.
