Mondo Cane Project

The mondo movies of the 1960's represent a watershed in media communications. When the first mondo movie hit the screens in 1961-1962 , critics, clergy, politicians and laymen all discussed the moral and ethical nature of the content and presentation. The mondo movies were the first hybrid of documentary and entertainment to invade the public psyche.
They were advertised with sexy flashes of a world view that upset the status quo.
This project will explore the psychological, physical and moral effect the movies had on the general public.
This project will utilize archival footage from the original movies, GIS locative media, current video documentaion, and traditional hypertext.
Due for release in July of 2006, The Mondo Project welcomes comment from users who experienced the release of the original movies.
