Best Practices for Artists

I am looking for a "Best Practices" resource for working artists. Can anyone recommend their favorite book, article or other resource?

In particular, I am looking for advice on matter of professional protocol. I am leaving this question deliberately open to see what comes of it.

You'll probably need to glue this back together to make a proper URL:

http://www.a-n.co.uk/cgi-bin/db2www.exe/topic.d2w/input?
section=4&topicu008&username=&password=&textonly=0

Failing that, www.a-n.co.uk and look for the good practice guide.
