Mass MoCA Show Loses Artwork to Bioterror Probe
06.11.04 Thanks to the Patriot Act, Mass MoCA is short one exhibit for its
"Interventionists" show, Karen Gardner reports in the Berkshire Eagle. On
June 15, a federal grand jury will consider bioterrorism charges against
Steve Kurtz, a Buffalo, New York, state university art professor who was
working on an exhibit for the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art and
who belongs to the internationally acclaimed Critical Art Ensemble.
Because materials intended for the show were seized, an empty space and a
sign explaining the situation stand in the museum where the exhibit would
have been.
