Dear all,

As you may know, there will be an open debate in the Security
Council tomorrow (Thursday, June 12) to allow governments to voice
their opposition to the renewal of Resolution 1422 as well as their
support for the ICC. Resolution 1422 provides a one-year exemption
for peacekeepers from non-States Parties on UN authorized missions
from investigation or prosecution by the ICC.

It is imperative that members of the Coalition urge their
governments (Ministries of Foreign Affairs) to make a strong
statement at this open debate tomorrow, with their principled
objections to the renewal of this resolution.

In those states that are members of the Security Council, we urge
CICC members to stress that their government vote against the
renewal.

For legal arguments against the Resolution, copies of the statements
made last year as well as other information on this issue, please
refer to our webpage specifically on Resolution 1422 at:
http://www.iccnow.org/documents/otherissues1422.html

Thank you for your continued support for the ICC,
CICC Secretariat
