"There is nothing else to do except complain about the way the art system
works. I have never allowed my work to enter into the process of the art
world because I know how vicious and unfair it is just from looking in on
the outside. This is why I don't bother to try- and why I dedicate my time
to challenging this system from the outside, and why all my work is molded
by my unwillingness to participate in that art world. That way I have the
freedom to say and do what I want, instead of building art that fits *into*
thier idea of what art should be- I make my own rules by rejecting
_everything_ they tell me to do, and I define myself by the acts I take
against those institutions. In fact, I don't even make art, I make excuses.
I do what I want, because what I do is right."

his self-righteousness is very refreshing.

"There is ALWAYS SOMETHING to do LIKE complain about the way the art
system works. I have never allowed my work to enter into the process of
the art world because I AM CONTENT from looking in on the outside. This
is why I don't bother to try- and why I dedicate my time TO WHINE ABOUT
this system from the outside, and why all my work is molded by my
INABILITY to participate in that art world. That way I have the EXCUSE
to COMPLAIN and do NOTHING, instead of building art. PERIOD. I make my
own rules by SAYING NOBODY LIKES ME, and I define myself by the WAY I
REJECT EVERYBODY ELSE. In fact, I don't even make art, I make excuses.
I do what I want, because what I do is REALLY CRAP."

Liza,

At least you got the point. What makes me worry is that maybe some people
took it at face value [which I assume you did, or there'd have been no need
for this level of exaggeration] and that maybe some people even agreed with
it.

Cheers,
-e.
