Subject: Brain Academy Apartment at The Venice Biennial
Dear friends,
I am working with the artist/curator Guglielmo Di Mauro in the realization
of an important art project in the contest of the next 50th Venice Biennial
(opening June12th).
The project, called "Brain Academy Apartment", is going to be realidzed
during the Biennial in the months of juni and in july, beginning on june 12,
at the opening of the exhibition for press.
Di Mauro is going to realize in Venice a big chair ( 6 meters high!, three
meter wide!) made of metal tubes, those tubes generally used for
constructing structures for the restoration of building's facades (in Italy
they are called "Tubi Innocenti"). The chair will be painted in red.
Under the big red chair , during the Biennial, will happen performances,
video projections, creative actions of 120 artists/visual poets from the
world.
Print of visual poetry and visual art works will be realized around the
chair.
We will have two pages for this projects in the official catalogue, but a
special catalogue with the Biennial logo will be produced for more
information about all the phases of the project.
In this projects will take part historical performance artists and
performance poet, new media artists and poet (this section is curated by
me), historical visual poets (in this section I will also co-operate).
But my difficult work is at this moment to create a world wide dislocation
of this project, for this I hope to have your help.
Some of you participated in my net-project Global Poetry in March 2002,
creating real performances and events dislocated in the world,
contemporaneously, with 100 e-mail printed on paper.
The idea of Brain Apartment is similar, but more difficult the realization.
Practically I need to find some artist, dislocated in the world, capable to
build or to let build a 6 meter red chair made of tubes for buildings… All
the indications and exact measurement are going to be given.
Under these chairs dislocated in the world will contemporaneously happen
performances and videoprojections: this means in Venice and
contemporaneously in the dislocated places in the world.
Photos and video materials shot during all the performances will be sent in
Venice and projected in the Biennial. Materials shot in venice will be sent
and projected in the dislocated places in june-juli.
THIS CALL FOR ENTRIES IS REFERRED ONLY TO ARTISTS WHO ARE GOING TO REALIZE
THE REAL CHAIRS IN REAL SPACES CONTEMPORANEOUSLY JUNE 12-13-14 . They are
also going to choose other artists
for performances under the chairs in their countries also after june 14.
1) All the names of the artists who will realize the real chairs in real
open
or closed spaces will be written in the catalogue of the Biennial.
2) Photos of all the chairs in the world and of all the performances will be
published in the special catalogue of the project.
3) A web site will document on line all the developments, participants, etc.
I hope to have your participation/colaboration in this important initiative
in the contest of the Venice Biennial.
I know the most of you are, as I am, new media artists, and will maybe
appear very difficult
to realize a 6 meters REAL red chair made of tubes… But I am sure we will
find a solution
together. If somethig virtual can happen it must be 6 meter high and be a
red chair of tubes…
I hope to have an answer very soon about:
1) your name and address/subscriptin acceptation of the project
2) where are you fisically going to build your 6 meter red chair (name /
address of the place)
3) wich collaborators are you going to involve for building the real chair
(accepted also institutions, academies, enterprises, alternative exhibition
spaces, public and provates galleries, shops, etc, have fantasy in searching
your collaborators, from this depends the realization)
4) a 10 lines bio.
5) photos of your chair, or of the places where you think to build it.
