Oskar Johanson
On Thames

screening from_15/06/15_to_15/07/15

This month The Unstitute continues to present a monthly programme of artists' videos selected from a variety of open submissions. This month we present a fascinating video 'On Thames' by Oskar Johanson.

"On Thames is a short film that follows Sergei Rudenko, a Ukrainian national who believes the City of London Corporation has been secretly transforming the entire Square Mile into a vehicle capable of intercontinental flight."

Oskar Johanson is an artist and writer based in London. He graduated from Goldsmiths with a BA in Fine Art and the History of Art (Dual Honours) in 2013. He is currently studying architecture at the Architectural Association, and is co-editor of the weekly periodical PNYX.

Pause In A Storm
an Evolving [an]Archive

_ongoing_growth_

[dis]Corporate Bodies 7 deals with a punctuated body of Evidence. The Unstitute invites you to the cavernous and well hidden structure of this remote human-made territory called [dis]Corporate Bodies. The most bizarre objections to normalcy and behaviors are presented in this edition for your interactive viewing.

"The un-naming 'Pause in a Storm' here carries a precarious meaning, roughly mapped out from the furthest satellite, this collection of works presents a strange constellation; made in the form of an excavation and occupying various planes converging to create a large Existential Body."

The Unstitute is excited to present participating artists: Catherine Biocca (NL), Timothy Geers (USA), Gordon Culshaw (UK), Heidi Hörsturz (Galaxy YoYo, DE), Eden Mitsenmacher (UK/IL), Catalina Ouyang (globally transient), Scott Morrison (AU) and The Institute of Film & Video Studies (DK/UK)

Longbridge
by The Institute of Film & Video Studies

_temporary_/_superficial_

The Institute of Film and Video Studies was a center for Moving Image Research and Radical Archivism, (or MIRRA,) chiefly comprised of an anonymous group of anti-establishment figures that was founded in 2008 in Copenhagen, before being dissolved prematurely in 2010. The Institute was established for the gathering and assembly of video archives from an unscientific perspective, often geared toward the construction of new urban environments.

"…Copenhagen, St George’s Day 2008. The Institute of Film and Video Studies produced a documentary about a mysterious case of arson somehow connected to the coincidental encounter of three individuals at the famous landmark of Longbridge. The documentary presents original footage from the only surviving piece of evidence-a video tape recorded by the arsonist who was compiling a video archive spanning years of private surveillance of the citizens of Copenhagen."
