Job Description:
The Department of Art at The Ohio State University seeks to hire a 9-month, non tenure-track, Visiting Assistant Professor starting August 24, 2015. As part of the College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Art brings together art, media and culture in an environment that critically engages the use of technology in the creation of contemporary art and cultures.

We seek an artist who is creatively and critically engaged in the practices and discourses of New Media art. We are especially interested in a candidate whose practice engages emerging technologies and finds relationships and expressive modes of production across multiple disciplines, such as traditional art practices, the humanities, the sciences and engineering.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellent teaching and will have a creative practice utilizing digital tools. The responsibilities of the position include teaching 5 classes during the 9-month school year in a program that serves undergraduate majors and MFA graduate students. Courses taught would be at multiple levels, and could include expanded media, 3D modeling, 3D animation, art games, video, new media, and creative coding. Additional responsibilities involve participating in the mentoring of students (graduate and undergraduate), and assisting faculty and staff with the organization of student exhibitions and labs/equipment associated with the courses taught.


Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
MFA or equivalent required at time of appointment
Candidate must be able to teach a variety of digital art studio courses.
Ability to teach at multiple levels of an art curriculum

Preferred Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
Some University level teaching experience
A professional creative practice that utilizes digital tools
