The Department of Art and the Graphic Design Program invites applications for a one-year term position in Graphic Design at the rank of Professorial Lecturer or Instructor. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 31, 2015.

An MFA in Graphic Design or equivalent terminal degree in a closely associated field is highly preferred, although candidates with a bachelor’s degree in design and relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply. The committee will give preference to applicants with professional and teaching experience. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching at all levels in the undergraduate graphic design curriculum, student advising and mentoring women and minority students. The candidate must be able to teach HTML, CSS, Javascript and jQuery and/or any other programing skills, and experience with motion graphics is desirable; occasional teaching of traditional media graphic design courses can be expected. The ideal candidate will have professional experience or a research background in one or more of the following: UX design, design for mobile technologies, interactive interfaces, information visualization, physical computing and wearable technologies and familiarity with new media design trends and practices. Candidate should also have a general awareness of current issues in design, the demands of the professional field and the tools, technologies and resources inherent to the discipline, as well as being able to contribute through service to the design program and the department of art.
