Sina Najafi will talk about the changing image of goal celebration, introduced by Men With Balls exhibition curator Simon Critchley.

Once upon a time, a goal was traditionally celebrated with a quick manly huddle. But then came the extravagant world of the goal scorer rocking an imaginary baby, pretending to get a haircut, or snorting the white lines of the playing field. How did we get here? This presentation of footage from some of the various highlights (and lowlights) of goal celebrations will be followed by an open discussion of what these changes imply for sportsmanship, masculinity, and individualism in the contemporary spectacle of soccer.

Simon Critchley is chair of philosophy at the new school for social research and curator of 'Men With Balls'. His new, 'How to Stop Living and Start Worrying', will be out in September.

Sina Najafi is editor-in-chief of Cabinet magazine.
