A full-time position is available in the Digital Media department for a Web Developer with a preferred immediate start date. The Digital Media department is responsible for creative direction, content strategy, implementation, and management for all of the Museum’s public-facing digital products, including the museum’s website, visitor app, and digital signage system. The position will last for approximately ten months and bridge the Whitney’s transition to its new downtown location; this is a distinctive time in the history of the institution, which presents exciting opportunities in the digital space. This position reports to the Director of Digital Media.

Requirements:
— BA in computer science preferred; comparable work experience will be considered.
— Strong client-facing communication and project management skills; strong ability to manage personal time, tasks.
— Strong attention to detail.
— Knowledge and interest in 20th-century American art and contemporary art desirable


Required skills (5+ years experience):
— PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript
— Building Drupal (7) sites and modules
— Migrating Content Management Systems
— Ruby on Rails
— Linux server administration, Debian preferred
— Version control, Git preferred


Additional strongly preferred skills:
— Django/Python
— 3rd party API integration (REST, JSON)
— Familiarity with responsive layouts and SASS
— UI/UX
