FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Film and Media Studies at Hunter College, which combines analytical and theoretical analysis with creative practice using an interdisciplinary approach to media, seeks applications for a an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor who is a scholar and practitioner of new media. The rank will be determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. or terminal degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications: The position calls for a candidate who has an understanding of the cultural effects of new media and Internet technologies. We invite applications from artists working in such areas as animation, interactive art, gaming, data visualization, physical computing, and interactive storytelling. The ideal candidate creates work that is socially engaged. In addition to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, the candidate is expected to develop new courses in the area of Emerging Media. The candidate is also expected to participate in the administration of the department, student advising, organization of special events, committee participation and perform college-wide service.

A distinguished record of creative work and scholarship or equivalent forms of production is required. A Ph.D or M.F.A. or equivalent is required.
