Concordia University invites expressions of interest, nominations and applications for the position of Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, with the appointment to be effective July 2015, or as soon thereafter as possible.

The Faculty offers 58 programs to more than 3300 undergraduate and 570 graduate students through its nine departments and four research centres. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic Affairs and a member of Concordia’s senior administration, the Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts will provide strategic direction, academic planning leadership and administrative oversight to achieve the highest possible standards in fine arts education, research and creative activity. Through increasing funding support, working collaboratively with a range of internal and external partners, and promoting innovative approaches that reflect the openness and diversity of contemporary culture, the Dean will further enhance the Faculty’s national and international stature.

The successful candidate will be a visionary educational and creative leader, with a significant record of professional or research activity in the fine arts field, and substantial teaching and administrative experience. With a record of building strong teams, fostering creativity and innovation, managing resources, and promoting multi-disciplinary initiatives, the new Dean will relate to a range of internal and external partners and promote excellence, equity, diversity and inclusion among faculty, staff and students. She or he will possess an open and collegial style, outstanding management, communication and interpersonal skills, a creative approach to problem solving, and a strong commitment to creative and academic excellence in research and teaching. The ability to function in both French and English is preferred.
