POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES: The College Laboratory Technician (CLT) in Digital Media will report to the Chair of the Art Department and/or Electronic Design Program Director or designee and work with the current CLT in Electronic Design and Multimedia by managing networks and equipment and materials installed in the EDM labs, the Digital Output Center, the DIAP studio, Photography, and Art History. This includes maintenance of the lab network and Apple file servers, installation and troubleshooting of Macintosh computers for art and design programs, and the management of digital printing services for both course and paid service bureau printing using large and small format Epson inkjet printers and HP color laser printer and MakerBot 3D Printer. 

Other responsibilities in the Digital Output Center include managing equipment checkout, inventories, repairs, print scheduling and operation/tracking of the swipe card system for service bureau printing. The CLT will assist lab users working in a visual arts environment, as well as hire and monitor the activities of student lab monitor assistants. The CLT will also assist other studio areas of the Department and the Art Office with technical and related tasks as needed. Will be required to work Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings (1:30pm - 9:30pm) and Friday and Saturday (9:00am - 5:00pm).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in an arts-related computer lab and digital printing/output center, or a certificate from an information technology program is preferred; prior experience as a computer lab technician is a plus; prior experience with both Mac and PC platform environments (Macintosh preferred). Ethernet network and file servers and demonstrated the ability to diagnose and repair equipment problems desirable. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, organizational ability with attention to detail and the ability to develop and implement organizational procedures and policies, excellent writing and oral communication skills and expert use of various Adobe Creative Suite software, Excel, and FileMaker. Experience in technical aspects of printing/digital output is desired, secondary competencies in graphic design, photography, video and/or audio are a plus.
