The SLINGSHOT Festival of Music, Electronic Arts and Technology, and the University of Georgia’s College of Engineering announce the Data Perceptualization Competition.

The competition is held in conjunction with SLINGSHOT's Sensory Overload conference on Big Data & Data Perceptualization (part of the SLINGSHOT Festival in Athens, GA (USA), March 26-28, 2015).

This competition seeks to discover and showcase creative and innovative approaches to data visualization, sonification, and other modes of data perceptualization.

Entries selected for the Final Round will be exhibited at the SLINGSHOT Festival and compete for a first prize of $1000 USD.

ELIGIBILITY: Any individual or team. Limit one entry per team. (No fee to enter)

ENTRY DEADLINE: November 1, 2014

FORMAT & EXHIBITION of FINALISTS: Entries in any media will be considered, including sound, video, web-based, 2D and 3D work. Finalists are exhibited during the festival. (See guidelines for details.)

THEME & DATA: We encourage entries related to our data theme: "The Crowd." We encourage proposals for working with live data from the festival. All entries must use an open dataset or open data stream. (See guidelines for details.)

CRITERIA: Entries will be judged on the basis of aesthetics, effective communication, innovation, and relevance to the theme ("The Crowd"). (See guidelines for details.)
