CALL FOR DIGITAL ART

In conjunction with Open Studios at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, there will be a special display of Massachusetts digital artists’ works in a dedicated area on June 19, 2014. The artworks will appear on the facilities’ wall mounted displays from June 20 - August 31. The theme of this year’s digital art call is “Lens of Society”. The videos or animations should involve a narrative of how digital art can act as a tool to synthesize or deconstruct aspects of our society. Video can portray elements of society through association or by juxtaposition creating new revelations. Your submission should explore this general idea of how video can epitomize society and can be representational or abstract, involving audio or be silent.
Works are limited to the display guidelines of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, which broadly limits works to not depicting racially offensive, sexually offensive, depict alcohol, tobacco, or drug use, and/or depict violence. Applicants are limited to Massachusetts artists - all ages are eligible to apply. There will be a stipend for each accepted piece of $100. Roughly 10 artworks will be juried for this exhibition.

Artworks should be formatted for high definition screens at 16:9 aspect ratios. Single-channel works with time lengths of 2-15min are recommended. You may submit up to 3 entries with online links to these submissions in a single email message. The videos will be viewed by a jury after the deadline has passed, so make sure the links will not expire. Please do not send more than one email message.

Announcements of acceptance will be made June 2, 2014. Final screening copies will be due by June 8th – final transfers through Dropbox are the preferred method for file delivery.
