ARTIST: Post MFA Fellow

Positions: Two (2) Fellowship Appointments (2 semesters / 9 months)

Fellowship Funding: $18,000 plus benefits.
Adjunct teaching assignments also possible at the lecturer rate. (1 course/ semester. Up to 2 courses total)

The Ohio State University’s Department of Art is searching for two (2) Post-MFA fellows for the 2012 -2013 school year. These fellowship opportunities are available and open to artists working in the medium(s) of Art and Technology, Ceramics, Glass, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. Artists working in hybrid modes, including those that engage in social practice are also eligible.

Post MFA Fellowships at OSU include an $18,000.00 stipend to support individual research while in residence at OSU during the 2012-13 academic year. Additional remuneration is possible through a teaching assignment, based on program need. Primary focus for the fellow will be the development and creation of artwork.

Goals for the Post MFA Fellows are to work closely with the Department of Art faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students. It is also encouraged that the fellow utilizes the vast resources available at OSU. This includes 24-hour access to studio space in the fellow’s area(s) of focus, as well as borrowing privileges from the campus libraries. The fellowship concludes with an exhibition hosted by the Department of Art and a public speaking presentation.

Minimum Qualifications:


Eligibility is firmly contingent upon those who have completed their MFA degree since 2009. Applications from international candidates will be considered. Former Ohio State University undergraduate and graduate students are ineligible to apply. We are searching for applicants who have not had the opportunity to experience the campus and resources at OSU.

Resources available to the Fellows are consistent to those offered graduate students in the Department of Art. These include our comprehensive studios and labs. The University Fine Arts Library that holds over 40,000 volumes. Ohio State’s ACCAD is known internationally as one of the top centers for graduate students focused in animation and 3D modeling. The History of Art Department has a comprehensive visual resources and print collection of more than 450,000 items. The Wexner Center for the Arts presents exhibitions, dance, film, and performances by nationally and internationally known contemporary artists.
