Thea Lura is an artist living and working in Louisville, KY. Her work deals with how we imbue objects with meaning and how things change in significance without physically being changed. Her last solo show "Kneel Before Gaud" at Swanson Reed Contemporary consisted of intricate mixed media altars that spoke about consumerism, religion and notions of beauty. In 2007 she co-curated a group exhibition called "Roar Shock" also at Swanson Reed Contemporary, was awarded a KFW Artist Enrichment Grant, and participated in several other group exhibitions.
