About the SHOW

“Aren’t dimensions fun" by Marcin Hanuszkiewicz.

“aren’t dimensions fun” aims at exploring the way in which the human eye perceives dimensions and space. It is mainly, however, a piece about glitch and its capabilities of being a visual metaphor for a wide array of experiences and phenomena. “aren’t dimensions fun” portrays a psychedelic epiphany in which the austerity of the empty space results in a dimension-bending vision. About the WAG

Due to our needs that seem to be increasingly handheld, WAG was born on 2009! The Widget Art Gallery is a mini single art gallery room fitting into people's pocket. Every month, the WAG hosts a solo digital art exhibition related to its dynamic site-specific context. So the WAG works both as a sort of kunsthall showing temporary exhibitions and also as museum conserving all the past shows inside an online archive that creates a permanent collection.

About the SHOW

Binga asked me to make swinging from the ceiling of the WAG her caged head – icon of deprived liberty, she is fed through the bars by a male hand offering her an almond seed: symbol of the species’ survival. Binga is reusing for the WAG her caged head - that was the core in the performance she made in 1974 - to question the woman's freedom today in relation to new media. Tomaso Binga is a poet, among the best-known Italian exponent of sound poetry and performance art.

Dates:
Fri Jun 05, 2015 10:50 - Sun Jul 05, 2015

Dear friends & colleagues,

About the SHOW

"ExploWare Beta 0.0" is an animated remix by artist David Hanes made in the same vein as his “Aware” series http://thxinternetthx.tumblr.com/ in which online images of gallery documentation become the source material for digital manipulations. Hanes revises these representations of cultural objects in anonymous spaces using Photoshop. This version exposes some of his aesthetic influences, as well as his process. The result is a tension between abstraction and representation, an emptied showroom and a bleached-out artwork.
David Hanes, born in 1987 in Toronto, is an artist, curator, and DJ whose expanded sculptural practice examines the architecture of the Internet and the experience of art in the digital age. Exhibiting in both offline and online communities, David lives/works in Berlin, Germany. He is represented by Birch Contemporary http://www.birchcontemporary.com/ Toronto.
