Money Shot

Dates:
Tue Jul 15, 2014 12:00 - Sat Aug 02, 2014

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

Con Artist presents “Money Shot”, a collection of work from our newest members. A money shot is the flashiest, most awe-inspiring, or most expensive scene of a film (pornographic or otherwise). First impressions are everything, so we’ve asked our new recruits to bring their biggest guns to the table and show off whatever they consider their best work at the moment, their personal money shot (pornographic or otherwise).

Each work is considered to be the most valuable, best executed, or most important piece ever created by the artist themself. It’s not only a show of great work, but also a demonstration of what each artist celebrates and values in their own oeuvre. “Money Shot” creates an opportunity to meet the newest members of the collective and see what they do best.

Femme Fatale

Dates:
Tue May 13, 2014 20:00 - Sat May 31, 2014

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

Since the dawn of time, women have been constricted from fully showcasing their inner strengths, talents, and intelligence. More than ever before women are being objectified by the media and social platforms, yet there are also strong, empowered women cultivating and sharing their talents. Even though there’s still a long way to go, women are increasingly becoming leaders in the workforce, politics, and the art world.
"Femme Fatale" is a celebration of this feminine power and the rise of the independent, go-getter woman in the new millennium. Women are natural creators; art is their inherent terrain and the landscape upon which their fierce independence can greatly flourish. “Femme Fatale” features work by Polet Guzman, Azure McBride, Sofia Reeser del Rio, and Angela Viens. These female artists strive to celebrate the empowerment of their individual selves in order to truly be the badasses they were meant to be.

Con Artist celebrates all of its members with a large group show. Curated by member Aprajita Anand, “Decorate, Embellish, Adorn” invites the collective to produce a monochromatic piece in any medium on a base of one square foot. The result demonstrates the breadth and creativity of the collective’s diverse artists. Con Artists decorate, embellish, and adorn any blank surface to create a mosaic of expressions which encompass their own individual interpretations of beauty.

SOUP

Dates:
Wed Feb 19, 2014 20:00 - Wed Feb 19, 2014

Location:
New York, New York
United States of America

SOUP is about different aspects of the human identity coming together to define our existence. Personal image, social relationships, and the consciousness of the collective organism combine into a simpler, unified form. What appears to be disorganized or random may just be a pattern of a higher level of organization, as of yet indiscernible to the human eye. Four artists' works fold down, fold in, and amalgamate, transforming the gallery space itself into a singular installation with a common narrative between separate pieces. SOUP features the work of Lady Millard, Shaina Yang, Frog Wang, and Jasper Fields.
