Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1983. His family emigrated to the United States in 1990, settling in Miami, Fl. where he received a focused art education at Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH). He received his BFA as well as a Master's Degree in Digital Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in the early 2000s. Lesser's work is rooted in his critical observation of American Pop culture. Borrowing techniques from commercial art, his work examines the decay of cultural iconography, as well as a contemporary climate in which virtuality often supersedes actuality. His work addresses perennial issues of class, power and privilege.
