Sandra Coelho (Mónia) is a Portuguese Communication Designer, Media Artist, and a Doctoral candidate in Digital Media at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Portugal (FEUP), where she researches the phenomenology of the haptic through art mediated by emergent technologies. She is interested in sensory perception, behavioral biology, and physical computing, intersecting art, design, science, and technology, for an enhanced intrapersonal awareness and relational experience. She is a member of the Research Group in Art and Intermedia (NAi) of the Research Institute in Art, Design and Society (i2ADS), at the Faculdade de Belas Artes, Universidade do Porto. She is a member of SAR (Society for Research in Art) in Bern, Switzerland, and a member of the LCD (Laboratório de Criação Digital) in Porto, Portugal. She holds a Master in Multimedia Art and a Degree in Communication Design/Graphic Art, from the Faculdade de Belas Artes, Universidade do Porto, and a Professional Course in Fashion Design from CITEX of Porto (currently MODATEX Professional Training Center for Textile, Clothing, Apparel and Wool Industry). She creates experiences loving the beauty of simplicity of artificial things and the complexity of natural beings. Her work has been published, exhibited and awarded national and internationally.
