The works presented on this site were shot in situ over travels from 2003 - 7. They are stream-of-consciousness monologues arranged into thematic structures. Tongdo Fantasia is a 7 part work shot in South Korea, Journey to the West is a 40 minute ride across China, Anonimo Colectivo Mexico (30 min) was shot in Mexico and Aucklantis (feature length) was shot in my hometown Auckland. Rather than a kind of 'travelogue' or video diary these works are a tableau of associations forming a poetic, epic narrative. The tone is dryly comical and everything is achieved with an economy of means. Besides self-generated themes, the works often allude / refer / pay homage to particular works or bodies of work, especially literary works.
