A PsyGeo Opportunity

Every year, the streets of New York are taken over by artists brought together from all over the world by Glowlab, the artist-run organization whose approach to public interventions is informed by the Situationists and more contemporary uses of electronic media. Conflux is their popular 'festival for contemporary psychogeography, the investigation of everyday urban life through emerging artistic, technological and social practice.' This year's fest takes place in the artistic enclave known as Williamsburg, Brooklyn, from September 13th through September 16th. The group will have a headquaters for installed work and public events, but most of the juried projects will spill out into the streets. Previous Conflux programs have included walks and tours; lectures, workshops, and panels; street games and tech-enabled expeditions; interactive performance; social / environmental research; public art installations; and audio / video / film programs. If you're thinking about visiting the Big Apple, mid-September may be a good time to do so. And if you're an artist, you're in luck. Glowlab recently extended the Conflux submission deadline to May 10th. - James Petrie
