all his books are available at http://alibris.com used. they're all out of
print. got an email from him today. last week he visited an english lit
class at ubc in vancouver where the hypertext version of his book
Convergences is being studied.
he went his own way as a poet, was interested in video poems and visual
poems and computer poetry way back in the sixties. and there weren't a lot
of poets with similar interests, which is mostly why his poetry has been
neglected. he's adventurous. pretty much only bp Nichol, who was a friend of
Kearns, was doing that sort of stuff also at that time in english canada.

well, we did draw up a constitution that was signed by all but quebec. but
that was in the eighties. in the seventies, when

one, but the dialog among the politicians was much as in this piece. quebec
never did sign it, as i said. i think the title was a matter of expediency.
it is more like The Birth of God/uniVerse at

than consitutions (although a constitution is kind of fundamental to a
country).
the piece was created in the early seventies for the NFB (national film
board) and was aired nationally so i spose the CBC folks thought they needed
a nationalist title. what good is art if it isn't politically relevant and
holds the country together? eh? It is a little known fact that the 5000
mile wide Canada is psychically held together by bad poetry commissioned
primarily by the Canada Council. Everything is so very delicate.
