Watch Out! The Eyes of the City
is an Internet / SMS / Video / street installation by Maurice Benayoun
In the street, a big box, covered with black and yellow stripes with a
tiny rectangular hole on a side. Coming to watch inside the hole, one can
see these words displayed on a screen:
Send a warning message to the World.
SMS : Cosmote1256 (Free, only from Greece)
Internet : www.watch-out.net
Then follow warning messages written by previous visitors.
On the Ermou Street, the passer-bys seem to be observed by watchers. Big
eyes are displayed on different shop windows as if they were scanning the
World. They are actually the eyes watching inside the box.
On this new version of the work presented in the streets of Seoul in 2002,
your message will be written over to the blurry streets of Athens and the
eyes of the passer-bys watching inside a box.

Dans les rues d'Athenes, une grande boite rayee noir et jaune a la =
maniere
des cabanes de chantier avec un petit trou rectangulaire sur un des cotes,
a hauteur d'oeil. Lorsqu'on vient regarder dans le trou, on peut lire le
message suivant:

Suivi par les messages d'alerte envoyes par les passants.
Dans la rue Ermou, les passants semblent circuler sous haute surveillance.
Des yeux geants observent la rue. Ce sont en fait les yeux des passants
qui regardent dans la boite.
Dans cette nouvelle version de l'installation presentee dans les rues de
Seoul en 2002, votre message sera ecrit sur l'image floue des rues anim=
ees
d'Athenes et sur les yeux des passants qui regardent dans la boite.
