BOGUS DESIRE
Desire not! Desire not!
Your heart’s desire may be unreal;
Your hopes unweaved;
And your happiness flees.
Desire not! Desire not!
What you covet may be fake;
Your ambition may fade;
Like heated ice.
To desire bogus wants;
Is leaping in the dark;
Full of awe and shock;
And incomparable hoax.
Whoever is the happiest;
Often desire less.
