december DARMSTADT "classics of the avant garde" listening party

  • Type: event
  • Starts: Dec 28 2005 at 12:00AM
Darmstadt is back for the December installment and we're hoping you can
join us. This month will feature some amazing new works by Luke DuBois
and Lian Amaris Sifuentes (current indiscretion) as well as a special
performance of Brainwave music featuring host Zach Layton and the incredible genius
that is Heather Dewey-Hagborg (with major support from Mr. Toshikawa
Ozawa). This music will actually be produced by a homemade EEG machine
that will read our brainwaves and auralize the EEG data into a harmonic
soundfield. Perfect music for the holidays!!!

The music of Current Indiscretion is a love affair between the spoken
word and the machine. Their frenetic sound is charged and unsettled as
their imagistic language explores the fetishes, illusions, and
transactions of obsession. Current Indiscretion are Lian Amaris Sifuentes,
performance artist, and R. Luke DuBois, composer.

As always, Zach will be joined on the turntables by mister Nick Hallett,
spinning the finest John Cage, Morton Feldman, Robert Ashley, Meredith
Monk, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Igor Stravinsky, Erik Satie and all your
favorite composers of holiday musik.

see you there!
