Mr. Quigley's work is a cavalcade of influences pronounced with a
strong expressionist tone. Believing that, "everything comes from the
same source…a primordial chemical gumbo," he revels in the mutability
of that stock in the space of the canvas. His fractious and sometimes
noxious juxtapositions afford this work fleeting resemblances to
Ab-Exer's early attempts at pressing paint towards an archetypal
state beyond that of verbal composure. His application of daubs,
splats and scrumbles physically attest to this, as does the works
framing of pathos and fantasy.

Works like Pumpkin, reveal gaunt psychological interiors that are
played to near comic absurdity, against their often thick and fleshy
surfaces. The interplay of object and interior is vital here, as it
provides the cohesion necessary to bind the spiritual and sublime
with the mundane and worldly. In his own words, "I am obsessed with
the idea of there being a spirit world. Something that exists outside
of the human experience yet is apart of it at the same time," Mr.
Quigley then states, "It is the mystery of what lays beyond the
senses that drives me."
