Call for Northwest (UK) based creative web developer for exhibition website

Lanternhouse International and folly are looking for a web developer to work in partnership with digital artist Sumit Sarkar, to develop an engaging microsite for Ananta, his ground-breaking new exhibition. The Ananta experience comprises of digital animations and sculptures, a radical re-imagining of the Hindu gods.

Ananta will be open to the public at Lanternhouse in Ulverston, Cumbria from 14th January to 14th March 2009, and will then tour nationally. The website should go live at the beginning of January 2009.

It is intended that the website will be a source of rich experiences for national and international audiences, as well as being an information portal about the exhibition. The web developer will be expected to, in partnership with Sumit, develop creative interactive content and design a site which is able to host contextual texts, still and moving images, visitor information etc, all easily navigable by a variety of potential audiences. The site will be hosted by Lanternhouse as an extension of their existing web presence at www.lanternhouse.org.

Expressions of interest must include a cv, links to previous projects and an indication of expected costs (to be negotiated with Lanternhouse).

The successful applicant will be contracted by Lanternhouse to develop and implement the site throughout December 2008, and should be available to visit the artist and Lanternhouse in Ulverston throughout that time.

Sumit Sarkar is in residence at Lanternhouse between November 07 and January 09. This digital artists residency programme is a dynamic partnership between Lanternhouse and folly, forged to encourage and foster the development of internationally significant digital artists.

Sumit Sarkar is a Northwest based visual artist, whose character based artwork takes the form of digital paintings, canvas paintings, digital sculpture, and aerosol art. The content of work ranges from the fantastical characters of Sumit’s KrikSix world, to his modern interpretation of the Hindu gods. Sumit also works as a designer, illustrator and workshop leader, and is involved in various live art events around the UK.
