60x60 / 60 pieces of 60-seconds experimental music/video

Saturday March 19th 10:00 PM
Vox Novus and the Living Music Foundation present:
60x60 with video by Shimpei Takeda

The NYC video debut of the 60x60 project for 2004 will take place Saturday
March 19th, 2005, 10:00 PM at Collective: Unconscious, 279 Church Street,
(Bet. White St and Franklin St) in Tribeca.
Admission is a $10.00 Suggested Donation.

60x60 is a concert containing 60 works by 60 composers, 60 seconds or less
in length, to make a continuous one hour-long concert.

These sixty recorded pieces, also referred to as "signature works", will be
performed in conjunction with a video by Shimpei Takeda and an analog clock
marking the passage of time. Each piece starts at the beginning of each
minute and will end 60 seconds later, where another begins. Works less than
60 seconds are padded with silence before or after the work.

"Not since John Cage's "Indeterminacy" has the flow of time from one minute
to the next been so significant. " - Doug Cohen

"Andy Warhol gave us fifteen minutes to bask in glory, but Rob Voisey has
cut to the chase: state your case in 60 seconds or less. Noah Creshevsky

The goal of this project is to include many composers to represent a
cross-section of contemporary music, representing many different styles and
aesthetics. This video debut will include the collaboration of Shimpei
Takeda. Born in Japan in 1982, Shimpei Takeda currently lives and works in
New York City. Takeda uses digital photography and video to capture scenes
from both the urban and the natural, creating a unique and expressive visual
landscape. Without computer manipulation, controlling only the exposure and
camera movement, Takeda uncovers the utmost beauty from small daily
vignettes like raindrops on a car or water cascading before a neon light.
Takeda produces a sense of transience in life with continuous scenic images
that run high in impression and sensitivity. Through his perspective we
realize that there are alluring infinite compositions resenting themselves
everywhere, which we tend to miss out on.

The concert will feature the works of: Riad Abdel-Gawd, Aaron Acosta, Liana
Alexandra, John Allemeier, Christian Banasik, Dennis Bathory-Kitsz,
Stephen Betts, Sandeep Bhagwati, Justin Breame, Scott Brickman, George
