Transplant Gallery presents SynthFest: the first of a new series of new media installations from an international survey of art directors and video artists with the aim of exploring global pop culture and the development of creative approaches to new media as an emerging form of communication.

Curatorial Statement:With the emergence of technology, new media plays an integral role in the development, advancement and evolution of human communication. New Media has yet to be articulated and defined as it is internalized into global discourse. How will new media influence global pop culture and influence our understanding of ourselves as a larger complex of interconnected networks of communities? New Media theory will have to be developed and put into practice as institutions begin to widen the bandwidth of art & communication.
The kernel of new media lies in communication, itself, and therefore its
gravitational centre is communicable in regards to the practice of inter-
subjective exchange and inter-cultural discourse. New Media is not only a
natural extension of human communication, but also the most affective teleological plausibility.

SynthFest is a creative platform for the exchange of ideas in the process of new media developments and art direction. It is an international survey of art directors who utilize the tools of technology with a high penchant for complete integration and synthesis of mediated culture and technologies compressed into a singularity. In a sense, SynthFest acknowledges the natural aspects of media culture as an organic biological system produced as a particular human substance (both immaterial and material) blah, blah, blah.
The internalization of technological tools coupled with the ephemeral mediated environment of both physical and virtual dynamics of space begins with the process of synthesis. Creation, itself, and the auspice of creativity, begins with the process of information in a state of activity. New Media is the fabric membrane or by product of human synthesis.
